Playback is silent

Press Play first; audio never starts automatically. Check your device volume and browser sound permissions. If your browser cannot create an audio context, the diagram and note names still work. Synthesized tones are intentionally simple and do not sound like an acoustic piano.

Stop a sound

Use Stop beside Play. Starting another run replaces the previous one; changing a selection or leaving the tab stops active and queued notes. Stop becomes available while a run is playing.

Print or save a PDF

Use Print / save PDF. In the browser dialog choose A4 or US Letter and a printer or Save as PDF. Disable the browser's own headers and footers if they crowd the sheet. At small screen widths the chart scrolls horizontally, but its print view expands to the page.

Download notes and Download chart create plain-text files. They are not PDFs. Without JavaScript, use your browser's Print menu; the static notes and diagrams remain available.

An unexpected note name

E♯ and F use the same key in equal temperament, as do B♯ and C. Theoretical keys may use double accidentals (♯♯ or ♭♭). The spelling follows the selected root and diatonic pattern rather than substituting a simpler key without telling you. Read the notation guide.

Scope of the reference

The tools cover major/minor triads on all twelve roots, major, natural/harmonic/ascending melodic minor and major/minor pentatonic scales. Seventh chords, song transcriptions and prescribed fingerings are outside this release.
